Sorry for emote spamming, but I just saw the most HILARIOUS thing!
I looked on SSBWiki and saw the "new" SSBM tier list and just busted out laughing. That tier list has got to be the most inaccurate tier list I have ever seen.

Here's the problem with the tier list:
-Fox is still number one, despite Falco being the better character.
-Jigglypuff is WAY too high for its own benefit.
-Young Link is above Link.
-Ganondorf is still not high enough, despite being the most powerful comboing character ever.
-The size of S-Tier and B-Tier.
-Mario and Luigi being in A-Tier.

The current tier list, which is now dubbed, "The Joke Tier List", is definitely the worst (and funniest) I have ever seen.

1. why is falco the better character? fox has an almost definitely better shine, stronger uair combos, and has always been dominant whenever the player was executing at their peak during the game (fox is an extremely technical character)
2. uh... jiggs is amazing? wall of pain? rest? combos and resets into rest?
3. wat, link is s*** tier and ylink is okay (armada's ylink vs jiggs is pretty awesome)

Smasherlink, the only one who thinks the new tier list is inaccurate is you. Ever since you made that contradictory comment earlier, I knew it was you.

-Fox is better than Falco in almost every single way.
-Jigglypuff is amazing.
-Both Young Link and Link are low tier, so it doesn't matter.
-Ganon isn't a combo character. He's about spacing and punishing.
-They only used 4 tiers, so there are obviously going to be some tiers that are large.

Learn to play Melee, before you try to disagree with a tier list made by people who know what they are talking about.

All I think of the tier list, being an anti-tier, is that tiers are just plain stupid and have no effect on gameplay, whatsoever. I just merely laugh at every single tier list someone makes.

EDIT: BTW, I don't really play Melee often, so
I only play it on my off time (or when I go against other casuals). I am not a good or a bad player, but fairly decent. I play for the fun of Smash Bros., not for competition. I just undermine every new tier list that's funny (since it ruined my gameplay experience since 2004).

Then you don't actually understand why tiers exist. They don't exist so that a player can say "ha I'm better than you because I play a higher tier character and thus can beat you in any given game", it doesn't mean that a player who plays a high tier will necessarily beat a player playing a low tier character. Hell, it doesn't even determine which character wins matchups (high tier characters often times have bad matchups against lower tier characters).

HOWEVER, to say that tiers themselves are inaccurate or stupid is a stupid thing in itself. Tiers are a representation of how strong a character is relative to the rest of the cast, and usually tend to map out pretty well to any recent results chart of players who have played in tournaments and how often certain characters win.

Tiers DO exist in any fighting game, it's just a fact of life. Characters are essentially objects with differing hitboxes and hurtboxes and various numbers that change between them like weight and fallspeed and size, but no combination of these numbers can ever be balanced without all the characters having the exact same set of numbers. There is no argument that an equally skilled Fox player will defeat an equally skilled Pichu player.

If you don't play Melee often, why would you be arguing with the new tier list? Also, you said that Link should be above Young Link, so that means you ranked a character, which is the point of a tier list. You are such a stupid contradiction, it isn't even funny.

I've said it once an I'll say it again, any fighting game that is played under competitive settings will have characters who are better than others. That's why every fighting game has top-tiers and low-tiers; and no matter how balanced game is, the low-tiers will have to do more work than the top-tiers to win. The only way tiers won't matter in a game is if all of the matchups are 50-50; but that would mean every character would be the same, and the game would suck. Top-tiers have a better chance of winning a tournament than low-tiers and that is the unfortunate truth.

Also, we know you're Smasherlink, so don't try to deny it.

Look, you guys must have me confused with someone else. I am not SmasherLink, I don't know who he is (please tell me who he is, PLEASE?!), and I don't know why I am being called SmasherLink.

And look, I just think that tier lists aren't really essential to a degree to where they should be called "accurate". They always tend to change annually, the only exceptions being the Soul Calibur series, Tekken Series, Mortal Kombat Series and the Street Fighter series. In those games, you have a "SET" amount of damage and knockback for each character, making sense for a tier list.

And to tell you, I am a Mewtwo main. I find Mewtwo to be a decent character, but the best thrower in the game. I also main Sheik, who is a great character despite her shortcomings in knockback at low percentages.

Uh, what? How does having a set amount of damage and knockback make a game tier list viable while Smash not viable? You realize that at the top level people do pay attention to knockback from percents, right? Some combos are only usuable under 40%, some only at 0%, some only at 100% (Falco's dthrow to upsmash in Brawl at least, I think).

What do you mean they're not accurate? And when they change annually it's because someone has unlocked some potential of a character that warps the metagame enough for there to be a shift.
