Sorry if this is a tad blunt, but... I would get to the point in your spriting where you could see it in an actual game before making tutorials.

This tutorial is good and everything, but there are also basic colours not available for the 8-bit style, like yellow, which was non-existent on the NES.

It's just the type of shading used. Not the exact pallet.

Backgrounds are basically just designs. If you want elaboration, you could have perspective and shading, but it's not always needed. so um, yeah...
I couldn't find one.

Yeah, I'm making an SSF2 stage, I've got the foreground and midground down packed and I'm happy with them, but I can't make a background I'm happy with.
