I've not played Melee, but after looking on the Smash Wiki, it's probably because you have to unlock Roy after Marth.

I've not played Melee, but after looking on the Smash Wiki, it's probably because you have to unlock Roy after Marth.

I get that part, but I'm pretty sure they were calling him a clone before then. Him being unlocked after Marth could be it though.

Roy wasn't even in a FE game before Melee
Marth did

Sash Lilac - DO IT she's from wii u and everything but its a bit similar to sonic so im not sure
Zero - add him as an assist trophy or something i just want him in the game
Natsu - ADD HIM please, he's from a great anime and everything
King Dedede - I know it's a bit stupid but add him in the roster for old times sake
Wolf - c'mon, he was a great character in brawl, add him to the roster too

I wasn't aware that Batonetta was a Nentindo character. If you think about it this way, the devs could always touch up on characters that were clones in previous games. I wouldn't mind a few simi-clones they've been around since smash64, to me its sorta like tradition. Nevertheless I think the only vets we're not getting is Pichu and Young Link, everyone else is fair game,
