Didn't see a topic anywhere else about this. I was wondering, is it possible, if it isn't already in play, to make it so if someone has been misbehaving on the forums, but not badly enough to warrant a ban, to give them a time out, so to speak? Like, somehow make it so they can't post for a determined amount of time, depending on the severity of misconduct, then the time out is over and they can post again? Not sure if this will work, or if it's even possible, but I figured it would be a neat thing to set up. Although if it's completely manual I can see why no one would implement this.

If they do something bad enough which calls for more than a warning but less than a ban, it's of course possible to do something like give a short ban...say an hour or something similar. I mean, if we're saying they can't post, then that's the equivelent of just giving a ban (users can still check posts; they just can't reply to them), so why implement a system that we already have?

A warning should be enough, and if they continue to misbehave they will continue to receive warnings up until a ban

That's why I said "if it isn't already in play". But I getcha. Forgot bans could be temporary. Everything else, I understand. But, what I was talking about was an automatic timed ban, not one where a mod or admin or whatever has to manually un-ban someone. Unless that's how temporary bans already work. But I suppose this is sort of a useless idea. Sorry about posting something that doesn't need to be.

The way you're describing it is basically a temporary ban.

Temporary bans already work like that.
