ok I know I used to main this guy but after fighting zero I wonder why MK is used competitively. He's always basically in turbo mode. Worse then project m and brawl

Maybe it's not your opponent's character's fault that you're losing? Maybe your opponent is just that skilled?

I never said zero wasn't skilled I said MK is jank. Meta knight takes skill yeah but I can promise you an average MK can do damage to a very skilled captain falcon. Not me though my cf is crappy and if zero used any other character against me he wouldve still kicked my a**

Well, this is one of Falcon's absolute worst matchups (maybe his worst, Lloyd's is pretty bad as well). afaik Jammy doesn't play that MU anymore since its too dumb.

After playing this guy for a while, I realized that I have absolutely no idea how to actually land his grab. I've heard before that he has a really fast grab with a lot of range, but I have yet to get off one successful grab against any competent player. Any ideas on what's going on? Did his grab get nerfed at some point?

I think his grab is really weird. Sometimes when I think I should have grabbed the foe I end up whiffing. It feels like MK's grab isn't like most, where even when they're inside MK, the grab doesn't land. I think it's because he stretches his hand out and leans forward. So you actually have to space his grab.

MK's best time to grab is out of dashing. Something like a Shoryuken Jump-Cancel grab or normal dash-cancel grab is awesome, though: it's an incredibly fast tool with a ton of range and is great for punishing long but laggy moves.

Playing him, yeah I do notice with certain characters you can just dash grab jump cancel grab their opponents. You have to bait them into grab them.

Yeah from the test you did Godot, he does have the fastest grab and from my test, he is currently the character with the longest initial grab range.

So when I use MK, I sometimes bait out for the opponent to put out there hurtbox like performing an attack or punishing them so I can grab them. It's very great when using MK.

@Doof
Most grabs are really weird, even sometimes when you are right next to the opponent, you won't grab them. Even when I play Sheik or Marth, sometimes the grab won't connect.

I do notice when playing with Ichigo, that it takes a frame or two for him to actually grab the opponent after his hand makes contact with them.
