I think super mario land is really cool

They were obviously limited by the power of the game boy so it's really interesting to see how they had to be creative and come up with unique ideas

It reminds me of what nintendo would later do with majora's mask, although the limit there was having to reuse so much of ocarina rather than how weak the system was

Well it's good but the physics feel wonkier than even SMB1.

They take like zero time to get used to

All I really know about it are exploding Koopas and that super iconic World 1 theme

It has bouncing fireballs and shmup sections and a Chinese world

Super Mario Land 2 is better because it has Wario and a Space world.

Mario Land was one of the first games I ever played & it's strange to think that it kinda shaped my perception of the mario series. The real games seemed weird to me for a while

The shmup sections are so bizarre but kinda fun tbh. I don't hate them

I like the underground levels with the sick music & the weird stone head enemies

Mario Land is a cute & cool game & I would recommend it

never played mario land but I'll give it a go on an emulator since I have nothing else to do tonight

If you have a 3DS then I recommend the Virtual Console version, the screen is zoomed out a little which makes it feel better. You have the option to play it how it was originally too if you want the original experience.

I think my first three Mario games (that I spent any meaningful amount of time with & not counting Kart) were the GBA port of SMB2 (the Western version), followed up with Super Paper Mario and then Super Mario Land. I felt this x100.
