Nintendo, or more specifically Reggie, confirmed the remaining DLC characters will be from not-yet-represented series so Bandana Waddle Dee (that's his official name, people), Black Mage and Tails are out of question.

3:10 Reggie said that the DLC characters would be new to the series and that no one anticipated to be in a Smash Bros game. And if we take that first statement literal, spirits should deconfirm many of them as they're already part of the Smash Bros series, so Tails, Bandana Dee and Rayman should be out. _________________  Mains:           |

I just took that as new as playable fighters, and they will be unexpected, so I expect Captain Toad as our first party char and Hollow Knight, Banjo, and Crono as the others. There will be a wave 2 tho so maybe then?

They just might include Chibi-Robo as an unexpected like SSF2 did.
I do like the idea of unexpected characters as DLC though (with the exception of Piranha Plant who was a punch in the face to both Waluigi fans and Waluigi fanatics.) sans or the Doom Slayer seems possible as DLC. _________________ Through plenty of determination, I've beaten I Wanna Be The Guy and so I am a The Guy.
