You have to shorthop and then use the Up-B and yes it does have a risk factor if you are using it to recover....

About the added stage control, you'll be able to reach the peak much sooner than the time it takes if you the UP-B normally so you will be able to change the direction of where you are falling at any given point , and the spring , at close range will delay the jump or up-b of certain characters for a short time.

The follow up options are pretty much quicker too , like the D-air for shorter landing speed , and the non-bounce attack would be a good follow up as well as : the Back Air , F-Air , Up-Air , and the homing attack after the d-air would useful too!

You can also air dodge repeatedly after reaching the peak alternately for more horizontal range!

Sonic is faster then Falcon in terms of dashing speed, making him the fastest.

In terms of walking speed, he is tied with Goku and they're is only behind Fox.

However, his air speed needs boosting.

Yeah I use the spring to gimp opponents becomes it kinda has a meteor effect.

According to Afro, there's some merit to spindash canceling (that is, the usual pressing downb while spindashing to stop spindashing.)
He noted that it is one of the few moves that sonic has that is unaffected by DI, and with proper timing at the right percents, it can lead into an usmash or bair. In training mode I am able to lead it into these moves, however, no one can say how true this could prove in an actual match.
