Speaking of Critical captures. I was unlucky enough to have a critical capture fail on a paralyzed Jynx whose hp was almost on 1 hp (this was in Y and in frost cavern and I threw a great ball).

I want to start a new game in X and really use my Torchic this time around, but my 3DS was sent to Nintendo for repairs and should have been back two days ago.
And the Torchic event ends on Sunday.

how do you actually find a shiny

people have been getting shinies left and right since like november

i use hordes to find shinies. i have the shiny charm which raises the chances of shinies to 1/1300. this makes horde encounters amazing for shiny hunting.
i'm looking for a starly right now, but they happen to be rare. i might give a few shinies away if i get too many nidoran or stunky.

a shiny starly? well i see staravia all the time right outside of geosenge town, you could try there unless you have X

and shiny charm? i dont think i have that...is that an item or an o-power?

item, you obtain it by catching every pokemon (except event pokemon) in the national dex

i'm trying to get the shiny via a horde, but if i get a shiny nidoran F then i'll go to random encounters

so there's a procedure to hunting these things huh...

it was out in japan for a little while and the people who got it can still use it
the way you do it is you get one legendary, then trade that one for another legendary, and trade that one for another. if you're interested, i have a tier list of value for these legendaries.

You can often glance for a Pokebank Pokemon which are the Pokemon in this list here. I have all of them, so I could give you a Porygon or a Kricketot which are the most valuable from what I've seen. Stantler used to be valuable but was bred so much that inflation took over. (Stantler was how I finished the national dex so fast. I told another friend of the strategy and she couldn't even get Bellossom while I could easily get a Dragonite or Salamence.)
