So I opened this a bit early, but there are a number of things to discuss before tournament day so might as well open it up.

We're already halfway to the end of the scoring season! That's right, we've reached the 6th X Monthly. But first, a recap of past X winners:
  • X1: Sekanor
  • X2: Kyoz
  • X3: Lunary
  • X4/SIX: Lunary
  • X5: oh my god please make it stop Lunary

Alright we got that out of the way, now for something more relevant:
Sign up link is here: http://x-series.challonge.com/x6

A number of things that need to be discussed before X6 though:
X's ruleset is known for being on the cutting edge of the backroom ruleset, even causing controversy with the stage list and 3 stocks/7 minutes format. The backroom is re-re-re-revisiting the ruleset again, but I'm sort of but not really questioning why some things are the way they are. So I'll just have a number of polls regarding the rules. Here's a current list of what I want to go over:
  • 3 stocks/7 minutes over 4 stocks/8 minutes 4/8 will be the standard for X6
  • Legality of Tower of Salvation (again...) ToS will be a non-fused counterpick
  • Semis as Best of 5? Nope
  • Livestreaming (although I've pretty much decided this, just want to see...) Replay only.
  • Late player threshold time. 15 minutes
I'll probably add more as I think of it.

Also taking suggestions for Salty Suite. Let's get this party started fo real.
-----
p.s. I am also releasing the X1-X6 soundtrack sometime this month. Stay tuned.

Currently Discussing: Nothing. Let's get this party started!

and one more thing
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

4/8, most of the sets are Bo3, so you won't be saving that much time.
In terms of in game s***, 4/8 leads to a better test of skill...cause like...there's more stocks.

Not really skill but consistency , adapting and endurance. People get more room to recover from their mistakes , shake it off and comeback.
Thus 20-stock matches would definitely be no johns. "Luck" will be less significant as the format gets bigger.
4-stocks matches can be long af though :wee:
But I think we should do this , for at least one tournament. And screw the BR ruleset , that's your tournament. Your rules. (Don't legalize Clock Town tho)

Also I don't want Semis Bo5 in a 24-man bracket. It's just that small. In a 32-player it would be awesome.

About the Salty Suite... I heard Jammy wants to kick mah a** for calling his Lloyd bad... Lloyd dittos??!! I prefer the 4/8 format as well to be honest. Gives more room for hype n comebacks n stuff. And if the bracket stays at its normal size, Id say First to 5 in Semis is fine. Cant wait to get rekt on stream :P

I like 3/7 not because I enjoy playing in that format more, but because I think it makes the tournaments much more reasonably long.

I would have to disagree. While 4/8 can be a better test of skill, so can

But that would take forever and R.I.P. EU PLAYERS. There has to be a middle ground somewhere, and I don't think 3.5 stocks is a thing.

That's what I'm saying. X Monthlies take on average 3-4 hours. I don't want/need to tack on another hour and a half because people want to play 4 stocks. I may add a third option for a 4/7 format though.

4-stocks matches are significantly longer than 3. And if you add Semis Bo5 the tourney would take like 5-6 hours. ._.

EDIT : YOU GUYS FORGOT ABOUT SOMETHING , LAGGY MATCHES + TOP 8 IS STREAMED
=> even longer

Top 8 will now be stagger-streamed i.e. replays instead of live.

In a world were everyone has eighth-generation internet, 4-stocks/8-minutes would be great for online.

But we can't. It can't happen. 3/7 makes the tournament less horrendous with time and good much smoother, even though it sucks competitively.
