BP says it is encouraged by the first test data following its stoppage of the oil from its leaking Gulf of Mexico well.

I bet President Obama also said something else than just "This is good news" (as can be seen in the video). Couldn't they use another quote, this sounds a bit like Captain Obvious. :/

Besides all the time being wasted bringing the oil cleaning boats we borrowed up to speed with our ridiculous oil regulations, I'd say it's going about as well as it could.

Anyone watch "The Gruenn transfer"?

In one episode, two competitors got given the challenge to make an ad trying to convince the viewers that oil spills are a good thing: Here it is.

YouTube Video:

Sort of related, sort of not related. But oh well.

Yay for not living in America/Mexico

I know BP is working hard to fix this catastrophe, but in all honesty, I think they could have fixed this a little sooner.
Oh well, not like I could've done anything, I just hope this cap stays on for good, the current damage is going to affect wildlife for a long time. What if a hurricane comes by and picks up all or some of the oil and then slings it on the land? The gulf is in for one hell of a hurricane season.

All is quiet on the Eastern front?

US official says oil and gas leaks are probably not linked to contained well in Gulf of Mexico

I'll include some more of the article in case some people don't click links and are consequently scared by this news.

Quote:
Concerns about oil and gas seepages around BP's newly capped well in the Gulf of Mexico appear to have eased after the US government said they were not "consequential".

Thad Allen, the official appointed by Barack Obama to lead the government's response to the disaster, said leaks detected over the weekend did not threaten the well.

He said the seepage of gas from the seabed probably had nothing to do with the well. Oil and gas are known to ooze naturally from fissures in the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

Take that as you want.
