It really doesn't matter in the slightest what series characters are from as long as they're unique. That being said 3 out of 6 being the same is stupid.

To be fair roy is much more different then in melee and the only character in smash to fight backhanded if im correct.

The Corrin discussion is still going on? Why, exactly? I mean I get that people are pissed, but it's been like two weeks. Was Corrin really THAT bad of a choice? Is he/she really THAT much of a waste of a slot? I honestly thought that this would pass away in like a week.

Corrin's fine. The DLC characters thus far have been spectacular, I doubt Sakurai's gonna flop this one.

they only have a limited budget and time for post-launch content. it's pretty likely that they planned out a certain number of DLC characters, whereas they had flexibility with the size of main roster

the whole "no wasted slot" point relies on the fact that one character being cut out of the game does not equal one character being added. that's not the case for DLC characters, if it wasn't Person With Sword #5748 then it would have been someone else because the numbers are planned out already

I have, and from what I've seen the discussion is there even in bits and pieces. The main thing that most of the discussion from the last two pages was about how Americans would not get hype reactions to Corrin and YTbers that makes over the top reactions, namely Etika, which what I'd admit that took up a good chunk of the discussion. I sounded forceful in my last post, I admit that. I will also admit that I haven't actually looked at most of the dates of the last three pages, so your snappy response is justified.

Was thinking about a Johnny Bravo quip involving how they could market a lot and make it look good but another thought occurred to me

Most of the DLC characters have been... intense. Like, serious fighters or veterans from past games, mostly of genres with violent gameplay. Lotta them also got pretty serious lore behind them. Anyone feeling softer characters coming, along the lines of ROB, DHD or WiiFit Trainer?

I don't really like to use the term 'a wasted slot'. I think 'wasted potential' would be a better choice. Take for instance Lucina's character fighting design, its 'wasted potential' because she's a straight out marth clone, whereas like Robin, she could've used assets from Awakening. Corrin isn't necessarily a bad character, but due to the the fact that someone like Cloud was announced, who wields a sword, and the fact that their is already a fair amount of FE characters in the roster, I can see that people see the character choice, not the character itself, as 'wasted potential', because in spite of the character's uniqueness, it's still just a sword wielder, and other characters would be more fitting, and Cloud was already announced.

I hope I'm not repeating anything.

EDIT: I actually like Corrin and I'm gonna buy him/her when he/she is released, but I see the reason for the disappointment.
