I don't know why people hated season 4. It had an original storyline, even if the bare bones weren't very new. It's probably because the themes were much darker and the entire digital world was lonely and depressing. Vast wastelands and problems around every corner, yes I could see why people would reject it. It didn't follow the previous schematics and situations presented in so many before it. Also, the lack of Digimon partners was a drawback, but only for the people resistant to change. If you let go of the other series', you'd find a very satisfying show.

I always liked season 2. I liked how the 2nd cast of characters fit in with the original cast and it didn't feel forced. I liked how the second cast of characters were completely different in personalities compared to the first so you didn't feel like there was repeat characters, or that anyone was unbelievably unoriginal.

I watched the first 2 seasons. Then stopped halfway on season 3. I may have watched a couple of episodes of season 4 and 5. I wasn't that into Digimon

I liked when they did that in Season 3, but it pissed me off in season 4. Just can't stand it.
