new tallica album is seriously the most phoned in record i have ever listened to. that's not to say it's particularly bad, or incompetent. but it seriously sounds like hetfield and ulrich alone in a studio brainstorming in a very calculated kiss-esque businessman fashion
"how do we win over the classic thrash audience, while also sounding like load (1996), while also being sufficiently walmart-and-itunes friendly, while also not having any audible bass or kirk hammett solos, while somehow having better mastering than death magnetic" and just playing the same low e power chord/kick snare beat combo for 80 minutes "fellas, we did good. back to the country club" _________________

originally, i was going to say "i've been replaying diablo 2 recently so this album tends to come up a lot", but i listen to this album all the time anyway so f*** it decided to go amazon because i've gone necromancer or assassin every other playthrough. cool game, but you already knew that haven't listened to the new 'tallica album and probably won't for a while. ride the lightning doesn't even do much for me anymore so i figure the new one won't either, but maybe i'll get curious someday _________________ |
