man, you haven't listened to mm food yet? that's surprising, hahaha. i figured you'd listened to that. you've heard madvillainy, right? also a little surprised about april#02. also if you haven't listened to flylo's los angeles i absolutely recommend listening to that one first, before utqc
very cool overall, though. i listened to both recommendation samples you posted and didn't care for either (sorry ;_;) but if you post more later i'll listen and maybe put one on my calendar if i like it

not as much variation as i wanted but i want to babble about my s*** taste

some of these are my fav albums ever and some of these I've never listened so woo november

girlfriends is super catchy, death cube k is not really what i look for in buckethead, but that's alright, Sage Francis is sweet, Nacho Picasso is hilarious as hell, BSBD is pretty damn cool and did collabs with Nacho, and Aesop Rock's Skelethon is super great, amazing instrumentals on Rock's part and thickly verbose as usual on his lyrics.

YES i am so excited for this

i'm definitely doing it, i'm gonna try (try!) to do an album a day for the whole month. i've got quite a few albums in my backlog that i've been meaning to get around to, i'll put some of them in a calendar and post it a little later

some of luke's recommended albums for november:

if in need of recs, ask me

you're in for a treat with a few of those, but some might be disappointing. i'm not saying which ones but yeah ; )

i can say luke's recs are really good, so try to listen to those people, also i know you didn't like the collab with Sunn & Ulver, but we'll see :)

in legend metal w/ piano instead of a guitar. describing metal is hard idk piano

the golden era mixtapes or anything under golden era records (aussie hip hop)
http://thesisthemc.bandcamp.com/album/lee-krasner hip hop inspired by classic hip hop & underground stuff

woodblue . downtempo kinda spacey feeling
yasushi yoshida really pretty stuff, 'modern classical'
kenichiro nishihara jazzy stuff, sometimes with vocals by guests

will check out for outside of this thing, but these look pretty cool

RX Bandits are forever cool, same goes for The Mars Volta, the hip-hop there is slick, acid bath is literally psychotic, great album with a few surprises that are really, really sweet, great way to end the event off.

ok! some recs now:
Agalloch - The Mantle
this album is an amazing blend of folk, progressive metal, and black metal, this album is stellar for many reasons, the atmosphere is quite something, from the acoustic guitar (which there is a lot of) to the more heavier moments, the album will flex its beauty both aggressively and gently. looking to get into black metal? this band is great for that, it won't be too much for most people, but will never fall short and promises a unique, chilling experience for seasoned black metal fans looking for something less extreme, or newcomers looking for something different.
Destiny Potato - Lun
perhaps one of the greatest albums to jam to, this album does back flips the whole way through, serbian folk music, devin townsend nods, quacky djent, a female vocalist, poppy choruses. yep, a genius album from David Maxim Micic in band form, very versatile, very groovy, very fun.
Thank You Scientist - Maps Of Non-Existent Places
perhaps one of the most technical bands ever. 7 members of this jazz fusion/prog rock band all masters of their craft. a vocalist with a great singing voice, a guitarist with fast and furious riffs, a violinist swaying the song around, a funky bassist rich in thickness, a BEAST of a drummer with precision of a math rock drummer in double time, trumpet and saxophone players sealing the deal creating some really damn technical, groovy, and energetic music. this album should make your way into your list, be it in this event or outside of it, just listen to it!

I kinda figured you'd have heard of Royksopp, actually. As I explore more downtempo music I hear their name pop up a lot. It's a really cool album though man, you'll enjoy it

nope, first time hearing 'em. i think their music is probably more in the nu disco/synthpop kind of vein, kinda reminds me of perseus. i'll check it out for sure, though, even if it doesn't make my calendar

mm food isn't that different from those two but doom sounds a bit more energetic on it so maybe that'll appeal to you

Scott wrote:

program music is amazing, re: is also quite spectacular. april#02 is pretty decent but it's one of his weaker albums imo. you'll probably still enjoy it a ton

yoo this looks fun

trying to listen to full albums is a habit I’ve been wanting to get into more, and there are, relatively, few which I know so far so I've put some of the requests in

Props for The Dark Third (and Reticence of course :3)

I still think that Rise Against album is high tier pop rock, too. Got it on CD. Lots of nostalgia on that lol

&& Soon It Will Be Cold Enough is wonderful. You're in for a treat there

Auraka's list is great, some really good electronic music in there as well as what Term said, sweet list

Esper that's a lot of obscure music, I look forward to the result of this

I'm waiting until I have my albums all decided before I make a calendar. Gonna stick them into a list randomizer in order to make it a little more interesting

By the way, I'm thinking I'll put everybody's calendars in the OP for easy access. I won't do that until it's closer to November though, so that you've got plenty of time to change your mind if you want to

(Also, now that I think about it, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough is a great November album..)
