Shouldn't you get a 3DS? As well as the 3DS being backwards compatible, you can also forgo Re:coded and get KH3D instead

It's supposed to be after KH2 ended. Also the beginning into KH:3D as well, IIRC.

Your close. Basically the journal from the first game got emptied out in CoM, and they digitalize it to fix up the problem. Thus you play as data Sora and go back through some of the KH1 worlds with a mostly unimportant mission. Really you can skip the game and be absolutely fine as far as the story goes.

Saddest was definitely that.
One of the tear-wrenching ones (but not saddest) was probably when Aqua asked what the boy's name was who was saving all of the worlds and it shows all the people linked to his heart saying 'Sora'.
