I just found out the joys of getting freeware. Many apps and games are free and we don't even know about it. Some of the more well known freeware things that people might is,
HideWin - hides your windows from view
Sticky notes (or anything like that) - a virtual sticky note on your desktop. Used to jot down things
Games - self-expanotory

If you want more freeware go to this site: http://www.portablefreeware.com/all.php

It didn't seem to fit since some stuff weren't programs. But, most stuff were useful, so in a sense yes it would have been better now that I think about it.

EDIT! New Freeware.

Ever wanted that fresh Vista look, but don't want to install Vista? Well you can "Vistamize" your XP into making it look like Vista. Finally, no more programs not running on Vista, since it technically is running on XP. Vistamize your XP (NAC NOTE: DO NOT ENTER THIS PAGE, YOU'LL GET ALL VIRUSED!)

Oh sorry  . I hadn't realized it. I was so excited about finding a Vista alternative that I posted it without checking. There is another alternative, but it doesn't look as good. It installs Yahoo! widgets, and something else I forgot. It also changes the task bar to make it look like Vista's. I forgot where it was and how I found it, but I'll search around my history.

EDIT: I have found an alternative to Vistamize. Although, according to the wiki page on it, it looks pretty risky.Vista Transformation Pack is something that can patch XP to make it look like Vista. I siggest you read the wiki page and compare it to the comments about Vistamize. Which ever one you download is up to you. I'll try "upgrading" to Vista-look on my old computer, if I can find it.

That site looks really suspicious. I wouldn't recommend downloading things from there.

A site I would recommend to download open-source programs would be sourceforge.net.

That Vista Transformation Pack doesn't look good at all. They're site got a big red cross from my anti-virus. If I were to download one, I would choose Vistamizer.

Both of them are viruses, the owners get flamed in the comments of the downloads/yt vids.

Agreed. I'd go here or download.com if you want to find freeware.
