If you lose power, or shut off the Wii U for some reason during the update, (Not sure why you would) the system will be BRICKED.

Well, thw Wii U surpassed my expectations greatly, with NSMBU and especially Nintendo Land. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I'm so happy with my purchase.

It seems like a lot of the pre-hate for the Wii U is based on how bad the Wii was for dedicated gamers, and how that changed people's perception of Nintendo in general. The console has flaws but really it's already looking better than the Wii in that regard. That's probably coupled with the good old "I can't get this, so it must suck" thing you mentioned.

I'm obviously going to get a Wii U eventually (and inevitably wind up shorten-pronouncing it "weeoo"), but I'm going to wait until it's gathered a decent library and maybe a price drop.

Don't just end a post with "but". This isn't a one on one real time conversation where you can express nervousness by ending so suddenly. This is a post, where you have time to think about the words you'll put next.

Anyways regardless of how good the wii U actually is, chances are it's going to be successful because of all the exclusives that are bound to come, not to mention it's practically a must buy for casual gamers. The only thing that could hurt the wii U's success is all the people who keep waiting for a price drop. If you want a console to keep on going you don't wait until the company making it has to take a loss.

Selling a console at a loss is a viable sales strategy. For the last 2 gens Sony and Microsoft have sold their consoles at a loss from the get go, and it doesn't seem to have made a dent. They make their money off of software and other stuff that people who bought the system will buy. Nintendo consoles have been much cheaper in the past and thus have been able to be sold at a profit, though we don't know what the situation is yet for the Wii U. Regardless, no one is under any obligation to pay more for a console than they're willing to, and people waiting for price drops will definitely not result in the "death" of a console.
