So like Lloyd looks like he got his mobility boosted and has an easier time chaining attacks specifically his Demon Fang,Fsmash and Dsp look like they got boosted in speed. Though that new grab : (

Llyod now makes a sound effect for screen k.o. In v0.9a he didn't. Neither this demo or v0.9a Llyod doesn't make a sound effect for star k.o.

Since Black Mage got a few nerfs, I've decided to jump onboard the Lloyd main train for 0.9b. I like his onstage presence much more than the other swordsmen, and he has a fun combo game.
That being said, I'm curious as to how others play him. I usually go total rushdown or campy punisher depending on the matchup.

I don't like the grab range nerf, but it was a necessary evil [it could have been a little softer though ;-;]. I think that the down aerial is slightly faster and I don't get the point of making demon fang a pass through projectile. His combo game doesn't really seem that changed to me.
The thing that I've always liked about lloyd is that he drops fast. That makes it easy for me to short hop and use his aerials [namely forward and neutral] to start a ground combo.

I love Lloyd but recently I've had a problem where whenever I use his final smash enemies can just walk out of it? I haven't played in a while but I swear it used to suck them in/lock them there.

It appears that the opponent can smash DI out of the final smash. Definitely a bug.
As for his grab, it's not too bad. He can still combo into a grab and combo out of it. If you have a strong need for a stupid long grab, go for Chibi-Robo.
As for his combos, they seem the same. And that's not a bad thing.

I still try to combo into the old grab, so I understand your pain. That said, his new grab range isn't all that bad, and it's really easy to confirm Tempest into grab anyway. All in all not a terrible loss. DAir actually feels slower to me, though it's been ages since I last played the game. It definitely feels like a worse move than it has been in the past, which is unfortunate. Maybe that's just my imagination; we'll see. It likely still has its uses, among them gimping certain characters at absurdly low percents, so further experimentation is warranted. Them ninjas.

I feel that Grave Blade is underwhelming as a shockwave type launcher, it is very easy to dodge it by jumping in the air and on Lloyd getting the immediate punish. But I do not think that the move needs changing in terms of frames/speed what the move needs, is a more diversity. I suggest that a feign option be added to Down B by quickly tapping in (In a similar fashion to double demon fang) showing the startup to the attack (holding the sword above his head) But quickly canceling it as to bait a jump out of the opponent. This would give Lloyd a mind game like approach to spacing his opponent with Demon Fangs and a feigned Grave Blade to trick the opponent into the air. One of Lloyd's main problems is that all of his attacks are well telegraphed through startup and distinct voice clips. I guess that's the price he has to pay coming from a JRPG .A feign option to an underused tool could give Lloyd players that unexpected element of unexpectedness in their game, while still keeping a glass cannon play-style.

I hope you realize that Grave Blade is a great move considering you get set it up in many different ways and there's a couple of legit way you can use to punish enemies, since using it raw is retarded. And he doesn't really need an option considering he's more a glass canon he can kill and ect but his real downfall is his garbage recovery which is what really kills him.

Planning on writing an in-depth guide after another 2-3 weeks of playing the new demo. I've mained Lloyd since Flash 1 (and started playing Flash 2 at v0.6) and would love to make a highly detailed guide on him. Of course I'm going to need some help to write this. If you're interested, PM me.
Also a quick question, would you prefer an interactive video guide (giving you shortcuts to certain parts of the guide etc.) or a written up guide. I know written up guides are very popular but I've seen some great FGC video guides as well so let me know what you think.
Thanks!
