It's been 40 years, and still it costs many millions to launch a thing like that. Not to mention, when was the last time a shuttle fell down or blew up or something? Not that long ago. I assure you, if this even works, don't expect to see any price drops "a year or so" from then, or even a lifetime.

Technology keeps advancing. This is relativley new stuff they're playing with here.
Give them some time, and the price will eventually drop.

It would make an awesome perfect target to hijack. Hold all the guests hostage and then maybe bring the hotel down on America or whatever. It would be awesome very very bad.

First the hijackers would have to find a way to get into space, though.

The only problem is weapon procurement. Unless they have an inside man, they won't be able to do jack s*** once they hit the first security check point.

Checkpoints would definitley prevent terrorists and such, but they always seem to find a way around them.
