I'd imagine that they might be using the new Zelda designs from the new WiiU title, and they had to use what basically amounted to concept art from TP for Brawl Sheik.
She wouldn't be removed regardless.


As for the roster speculation, Toon Link, Hippo, Dillon, Red Hero, Wolf, N, Bayonetta, Sonic and Snake seem like stretches.

I think Toon Link is going to be replaced, and he's going to be mixed with regular Link.
I think Little Mac is a bit of a dream, but possible, but King Hippo isn't good enough.
Dillon probably has a bit of a better chance than the others.
Wonderful 101 hasn't made a name for itself. The fact that he doesn't have a name should be reason enough.
Wolf is either going to be removed or completely redone.
I don't think they would use N if another trainer was going to be used. It would probably be the female PC, if at all.
If memory serves, the third party characters would only be in the one game. They have a chance, but they might be replaced.

With Wind Waker HD coming out, I wouldn't expect Toon Link to be removed, really.

Whats your point? Captain Falcon never used the Falcon Punch or any of his other moves in F-Zero, yet they were able to create his entire moveset of of nothing. Just because Sheik is Zelda, that doesn't mean they can't change their movesets.

New Sonic game is Wii U and 3DS exclusive. I'd honestly be pretty surprised if he was removed.

Captain Falcon doesn't stay true to F-Zero's roots. Jigglypuff doesn't stay true to Pokemon's roots. Ganon doesn't stay true to Zelda's roots. Honestly it doesn't matter if the characters stay true to their roots. Also Luigi's Green Missile wasn't in a Mario game before it appeared in Melee.

you're misinterpreting his misinterpretation
When he said "Sheik is Zelda, haven't you played OoT?", he was referring to how they're one in the same and if they changed their down-B's, that means they suddenly different characters. At least, that's how he read it.
He never said anything about Sheik not having an actual moveset or a last attack. Sheik didn't have needles or a chain.
And, in my opinion, Fox is a better character to associate with "creating a moveset out of nothing". Captain Falcon DOES have a moveset that was made of nothing, but those are mostly generic punches and kicks, as opposed to Fox who has things that still aren't even referred to in any Star Fox media.

I don't know why people want Ridely so bad what would his move set be? At that he is way to big he might appear as another boss on SSB4, but not as playable character.
