Maybe if you watch a movie a third time, it'll become horrible.

As great of an actor Bryan Cranston is, he's too old to be Luthor. Same goes for Mark Strong. In DC canon, Lex and Superman are suppose to be the about same age. Cavill and Eisenberg were born in the same year. I think Zack Snyder is trying to stay accurate to that. But as everyone has moaned about; he looks like he's 20. I am a bit apathetic to the choice. I think he can do the role well and make it feel like the character Lex Luthor, but I also think maybe they could have chosen someone more talented.
I thought this guy's idea behind the choice sounds very analytically and reasonable. YouTube Video:

You are right Zalo, that guy is more than right on why Jesse will be a perfect Lex Luthor.

Since Man of Steel 2 has been delayed to 2016, it'll being coming out that same year as the Flash movie. They'll probably show some connections in the plot of both films.

They might not even do a Flash movie, at least maybe not until Justice League comes out. He's being introduced on Arrow and that universe is supposedly the same one that the Man of Steel one is in.
As for the guy's points in that video: Eisenberg and Cavill nowhere near the same age. Eisenberg looks like he's in his mid 20's and if I didn't know he was 30 I'd guess Cavill was older than that. Lex Luthor being a minor character is not confirmed and is probably not even true. Obviously this movie is not going to be Superman vs. Batman the entire movie, because that's not what audiences want. They want to see their two favorite dudes team up against a big bad, and that's going to be Luthor. I predict for the first hour and a half or so, Batman and Superman are fighting, then after that they spend an hour stopping Luthor. I have absolutely no clue where Wonder Woman fits into anything and she really shouldn't even be in the movie in the first place. That guy giving Kat Dennings as a good unconventional casting choice for a minor character is pretty funny too, considering she's by far the worst part of both Thor movies. Sure, Eisenberg works well in an ensemble cast, but so do a lot of actors better suited for Luthor. Eisenberg's dramatic territory is pretty much just The Social Network. 99% of his other work is in comedies. In The Social Network, he doesn't play a dark, intimidating villain. Sure he was an egomaniac, but can you imagine him saying this:
Even if he were to bulk up for the role, I would never be able to take him as a serious threat to either Superman or Batman. But, if he at any time builds some f*** robot suit and trys to beat either of them in a punching contest, I will see this movie a million times because that would be hilarious. Knowing Snyder, that's not beyond the realm of possibility. |
