hm......it's okay.. it didn't really help actually. i already know all that..... next time, try more descriptive comments, more pictures and guides to making something more common. but your guide helped me on picking colors! and shading.... so yeah, it's not that bad.... makes me want to make a jus guide.....

@luigimanman: JUS GUIDE, AWAY! i'll post one for you.

I will give you my critique on your sprite R.E.B. Since it's your first sprite I won't be that harsh on you.

1. Never pillow shade. The entire sprite has pillow-shading all over it.
2. Colors need more contrast. You have too many dark colors on the skin and too many light colors on the pants. You'll need to balance the colors.
3. Make defined outlines first before you start shading. For your next sprite, I suggest you show the outlines (line art) first. Do not use the line tool, use the pencil tool or some other tool.
4. Learn how to make better body proportions. Apparently, your sprite's body parts are not in proportion.

Learn from the stuff I said, you'll get better hopefully. :)

These are my first 100% custom sprites as of June 23, 2008.

Now, my latest 100% custom sprites.

Charizard by TriggerX, Toon Link by Zazz, Bowser by ZXO, Lucario by Nave, Link and Zelda outlines by Zazz. All the other sprites are mine.

2. He probably wanted his character's skin color to be dark.
