However, they tried to make Sora become one of them.
Also, since that didn't happen in Chain of Memories, they thought Sora was a threat to their plan to get hearts of their own.

It's only considered evil to people who have hearts. They don't have hearts, and as such, have neither the ability nor reason to think of another way to to it. Not to mention most of the time their helping Sora, albeit indirectly, by targeting Heartless to get hearts from.
So if you take their situation into account, the main reason why their bad guys is because Sora is a racist f*** who can't tell the difference between a sentient being like Xemnas or Axel and a Dusk.

Heck, I remember reading somewhere that since Disney wanted it to be naive as f*** similar to their movies he decided to take the idealism scale and jump off the deep end with it.

Still, I hope Drive Forms get in KH:3D in some way.
It would help a lot against a hard boss.
Higher jumps, gliding, extra strength, etc.

From what I've read, and I think you can see it in one of the trailers, Riku can fuse with his Dream Eaters and use them for what seem like drive forms, the example being fusing with it and getting bear-like claws. That's okay with me. As long as they can get stronger in some way, I'll feel like I don't have to play the whole game without an advantage in certain situations.

It's actually when it runs out. You can also force it to run out, so there is random and manual changing. And yes there is "fusions/limits" with your Dream Eaters, some act similar to Drive forms.
