This can be a controversial case, HIV activists will be watching this. After all, criminalising unprotected sex when HIV-positive is a very controversial move. It may be lax, but I'd find anything longer than one year excessive.

I don't think that they should be criminalising unprotected sex, but they should criminalise not TELLING your partner. If two consenting adults want to take the risk, that's their issue. But when one of the parties involved isn't made fully aware, that's pretty much the problem, right there.

True, that's a very sensible position. I mean, it is a severe case of neglect and I cannot see any reason to put somebody at such a risk.

The activists will not be particularly appeased with the criminalisation of something HIV related, since it might cause HIV infectee shaming.
