His idea was STUPID?
Are you guys f*** serious?
Jesus Christ why am I even asking?
Kosh seems to be the only one here with a fully functioning brain.
See how biased the forum is, Kosh? If you don't think exactly the same, you're an idiot and your ideas are horrible.
The new users and preteens aren't even the f*** problem, it's the rest of you dumbasses going overboard with everything.

So, secret section for adults on a forum consisting mostly of 13 year olds = good. Finally applying that damn 13+ MENTAL age = bad? Totally makes sense.

hi five, brother, finally someone gets it! also I believe the term you're looking for is "hivemind" I'll be honest, I have no idea what's going on in this topic except the fact that some are like WE DON'T WANT TO RISK DOING SOMETHING AWESOME. oh and a mod who can't even consider a proposition intelligently and their only comeback being to call me a f*** idiot that's who you've elected to a moderator position. okay i'm getting kind of tired of writing these posts Let's say it was the other way around, which is pretty much the idea now. First of all, how do you plan on implementing this? Do you have psychologists on hand to diagnose an accurate "mental age" for each user? How can you determine this from a single post on the introduction forum? This is only going to end up giving you a lot of headaches in the long run, and you'll burn yourself out easily by hand-picking which members stay and which get the boot. You don't know these people IRL, which would be the RIGHT way to diagnose something like this. You've never heard their voice, you don't know how they contribute to their local community, their place in society or their life history. Online tests are inaccurate - and if it's built into the site, you'll end up with people trading answers in order to get in. Therefore, you can't accurately implement a "mental age" policy because, quite frankly it's never going to work out. In the end, this will turn into "Whoever we, the moderation, do not think fits into the community due to their posting style and habits will be banned". Think about it. Tell me YOU'D like to become a member of a forum community that implements that kind of a policy towards its new members. This section wouldn't become a XXX PORNO SEX network or anything. If it's 15/16+ it'd actually be pretty laid back and nice. We'd make stupid posts, but that's the essence of spam. All you'd be doing is chilling in that forum, and then when you see a cool person you think is worthy of joining the legion of Spam #2, you let them join the group. If they're too immature and start picking fights with everyone in Spam #2, that's when you kick them out of the usergroup. It's a lot less time-consuming and easier to implement than implementing an impossible-to-gauge policy on the ENTIRE forum for EVERY incoming user. Hell, it's even easier to implement than the "spam usergroup" policy, because then you could just see who you think is worthy of the group and add them. Kinda see the animals in their natural habitat, you know? At the present you've just got one mod getting flooded with PMs with people asking if they should be admitted to a forum. I'm sure Bluemage would be a lot less uptight if he was able to admit users to a Spam #2 this way, instead of constantly asking the Spam users SHOULD I LET THIS GUY IN??? I'm being serious here - I'm not writing any of this to oppose you guys. I'm not trying to frustrate you and I'm not trying to be an annoyance of any sort. I'm suggesting these things with the moderation in mind...that includes you, Hakker, and you, Bluemage.

Who said anything about judging the mental age from a single post?
Even a shrink couldn't pull that off.
Now judging the mental age of a member from say.. A long lived joining topic? Much more manageable.
Though, if you think about it, one doesn't substitute for the other.
I suppose both could be given some serious consideration.
The fear that the Spam 2 section would bleed into the rest of the forum does strike me, to be honest.

Well, the rules of the forum and the rules of Spam #2 are different - right? You're more leniant in Spam #2 with whatever rules you set. As admin, you need to establish in a sticky or something that if you're part of Spam #2, some behaviors in Spam #2 will not be tolerated in other parts of the forum and if you see any behavior like that outside of the forum, that they'll be dealt with and consequences will occur. One thing that does concern me, is that like - let's say flaming occurs in Spam #2. There is the drama involved and that's what you're concerned with - it leaking out elsewhere. But...couldn't that happen in the current Spam anyway? You could just say, "What happens in Spam #2 STAYS in Spam #2" lol spam vegas lol if they've made it into Spam #2 they've obviously got enough of a brain to know what's expected and not anyway. If they don't, you boot them - they've lost the privilege of Spam #2. It's that simple. Look, if you do try Spam 2, give it a test run, say like...a month to see how it goes. If you like what you see, keep it going. If it doesn't work out, close Spam #2, delete its topics and go back to the way you have it now. :V

Belth, explain the good things about a secret section for older people that can spread out to the rest of the forum.
The only thing a secret section is going to do is provide a place to hide from the 12-year old masses. So while you hide in the mature section, the problem is still everywhere else.
I want to do something about this, not hide from it.

We could still enforce rules everywhere else.

More sections doesn't stop wars, it starts or feeds them. The bottom line is that the cancer killing MG will never go away, no matter what we do. We'll learn to live with it and accept Cleod's choice of keeping kids near him or leave. I'll stay because I know a couple smart people here. So, let's just give this a rest.
Also, you write too much, Kosheh. Tone it down. Remember, there are kids here. Kids that can't understand big words and fancy script.
