I don't get why people complain about Vista. I think it's a lot better than XP.

And I've never had speed issues with it until a few months ago on one of my computers (but that's probably just because I've used up 80% of the hard drive).

You really should read what I posted. Why does Vista require one more GB of RAM when XP doesn't? It's a ridiculous waste, especially on a 32-bit machine.

tell me about it
Wait, wouldn't having a 2GB 32-bit system be the same as a 1GB XP?
Cuz, you know, I have Vista.

No.

It'd be like having a 318MB XP. Meaning it's not exactly a speedfest. Which is why my Vista computer is 8GB 64bit. >.>

No, I was simply stating that for games to run on Vista, you need more RAM. That is one big waste of resources if you ask me.

Let's pick a relatively modern game, how about Dawn of War II?
Code:
Operating System    Windows Vista Service Pack 1 / Windows XP Service Pack 2
CPU                 P4 3.2 GHz (single core) or any Dual Core processor
Memory              1.0 GB (Windows XP) 1.5 GB (Windows Vista)
Hard Drive Space    5.5  GB of free space
Graphics Hardware   128 MB Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT / 128 MB ATI X1600, or equivalent (must have Shader Model 3.0 to run the game)

Windows 7 > Vista > XP

People are just annoyed with Vista because it was bad early on. After some updates, it superseded XP entirely.

I've got the RC and it works fine except I can't use the console on Fallout 3.

Games aren't the only thing computers are used for.

I'm on Vista at the moment (long story), and so far it doesn't sit well with me. Desktop shortcuts that I need are missing. A buncha useless RAM eating widgets start up whenever I boot up. Been trying to get rid of useless stuff like the sidebar and what not. Still trying to make sense of the installation paths and what not. I don't mind the ask for permission to install thing though. One good thing about this machine is that its 64bit.
