The same one, probably.

But just a little updated, like what they did from Melee to Brawl?
Well, if that's the case, then maybe a part of the DLC could be costumes like those?

Context doesn't matter. Point is, your point can be argued without acting like a c***.

And a rude comment deserves a rude response, such is how it is

Melee's clones are unique etc etc

I am not referring to tiny differences in the characters. Pichu hurts himself, 'Dorf doesn't have an A combo, Roy's neutral B charges longer. Woohoo. These differences are minute at best. Every move has damn near the same animations, same hitboxes, same this and that. It only even changes a bit once you get to a competitive level, where subtle differences in characters can make a huge difference. If you're honestly trying to defend Melee's clones here, I really can't help you.

Sakurai knew that just porting characters over wasn't going to create a good metagame.
Do you honestly believe Sakurai gives a f*** about metagame? The same Sakurai who put random goddamn tripping into Brawl? He's making a company love letter for casual gamers; I don't believe things like metagame and tournaments ever crossed his mind during the development process for any of the Smash games.

EDIT: fixed quotes

Okay I hate to add to the conversation but if you genuinely believe that melee wasn't designed to be a competitive fighter along side a casual game then you're cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Also if this doesn't pertain to smash 4 please take it over to the other topic.

What attack would you want for Mario's down special in SSB4 and why?
Mario Tornado, F.L.U.D.D., or something different?

I think it should be the Star Spin move from Mario Galaxy. Simply because 64 and Melee referenced Mario 64, and Brawl references Sunshine.

Forget maticulously placing each hitbox on each frame and carefully fine tuning each stat to create literally the most intelligently designed characters in fighting game history JUST TAKE THEM FROM THE ORIGINAL GAME IT'S SO SIMPLE

so you're saying sakurai made blazblue

@term: yeah basically what geno said
if you think he put that much work into making all these perfect characters but he didn't care about the metagame then you're just f*** retarded
he made brawl more casual, no-one is denying that. he went for a more party random experience. i'm not talking about brawl. i'm talking about melee. whether that was because he was aiming for a different direction from the start or he just didn't care enough to fine-tune everything so he went with making it casual as a cop-out, who /knows/ but it is not an indication of his intentions in melee.

and holy f*** those are the differences you point out have you even seen the characters
captain falcon is a primarily chase base character who absolutely thrives on risk/reward gameplay, with long, flowing, stylish combos. he'll chain you across the stage if he can get on you fast enough but if you f*** up you're going to lose your stock son.
ganondorf has a completely different gameplay style. if you want to play a good ganondorf, you've got to learn to read your opponent. your attacks are too slow to allow you to ever really chain them anywhere, and your offstage game doesn't go particularly far out before it becomes suicide. playing ganondorf is all about those mindgames, you need to figure out where your opponent is heading before they get there, and set yourself up to hit them in anticipation. if you are seriously going to argue the point that they are similar at all then i just do not know what to say to you, because they are such binary opposites it's crazy.

Pikachu and Pichu are a little more simple. Pikachu is a very fast paced character that gives you a lot of control over both you and your opponents movement, and he can kill really quite early with a combination of gimps and just overall quite high powered smashes (usmash is crazy). Pichu on the other hand is... well I mean he's garbage, he's pretty much the only character in the game (well roy as well) that no-one plays at all. as for what he is when he does get played though, it's still very different to Pikachu's, there's a lot more baiting and punishing as he really can't afford to miss, and his range is too abysmal to risk flat-out charging the opponent like Pikachu can.
yes, i am going to defend melee's clones, no i don't need your help because i know about 100 times as much about the game as you clearly do

I think more along the lines that people dont like Melee's clones because despite their obvious differences in stat parameters and playstyle, they still share the same moves just with different speeds, damage output, and knockback trajectories. They are still the same moves though, which makes them less interesting as a whole.

I still love playing as some of the clones mainly Roy and Young Link, but that was because i was better with them than the originals.

I liked that they at least somewhat attempted to phase out clones in Brawl, which makes those characters even more fun to play as. Smash Bros is all about fun man, and each game delivers in that sense each in their own way. Sakurai's main focus im sure was to make the games fun, not saying whether or not he had competitive or metagames in mind, but the main focus was the fun.

The primary reason i like Brawl over Melee is the airdodge system, that alone makes Brawl more fun to play in my opinion. I like the nudging that Melee's lets you do, but i hate the fact that you have to go helpless afterwards.

Maybe we should subtly try to change topics;

Alt. costumes, kinda like Playstation All Stars Battle Royale has. You can switch 'em like Wario can and then maybe every character gets 1 or 2. What costumes would you guys like to see, eh? I'd like Dr. Mario as a alt. costume, and perhaps Tanooki Luigi.

Currently Playing: Wii U VC games, bro.
I would love to see Dr. Mario as an alternate constume.

What I really want to see though is the shiny versions of the pokemon trainer's pokemon.

I personally think that Alt. Costumes should influence the way a move LOOKS, like Dr. Mario. As for other alternate costumes, I'm gonna have to say Metal or Classic Sonic (Assuming Sonic returns), and maybe certain characters could have Melee-style graphics? I SERIOUSLY would love that feature... it's one thing I would really enjoy in Brawl.

I'd like to see some of the power-up costumes of the Mario series as Alt. Costumes for Mario and Luigi. i.e. Ice Mario, Tannooki Mario, Cloud Mario, Bee Mario, Hammer Bro Mario, and maybe even the Gold Mario from NSMB2. And of course, Fire Mario, which has already been a costume in Smash Bros.
EDIT:
Smash Wiki wrote:
Sakurai is also quoted as claiming that the new game is unlikely to emphasize new playable characters, focusing instead on gameplay balance and distinctiveness of its characters.

This to me is bad news, since there won't be as many new characters as we may have hoped.
However, he did say he'll focus on "gameplay balance." Could that mean that the characters will be balanced? :shifty:

Well i remember them saying something along the lines of "the game is being designed with balance in mind" Plus it wont be just Sakurai doing the balancing this time (supposedly he did this by himself for Brawl, but i dont know for sure). So its pretty much guaranteed that there is more effort put into the balancing (hopefully).

I seriously hope that they design with balance in mind first, with competitive play a close second, that way at least the game can cater to both casuals and hardcore gamers. If they do it right, this game may even surpass Melee in some people's minds... Blasphemy i know, but you guys gotta move on sometime right?
