There's also a chance that she could be there just to be there, like Luigi in Super Mario Galaxy, he had pretty much no role in the plot at all. Was fixed in the 2nd game but still.

To be fair, Luigi is the Luigi.

Rosalina is in just because she is popular. The Comet Observatory I guess gives her as decent a reason as any considering it is Mario. I was referring to something like 'I saw you needed me, so I decided to help.' That would have to wait until it is released, though.

Im just saying, maybe its similar to Luigi's role in Galaxy, you can play as him as a bonus character, but it does nothing to change the plot. She might just be there to be another selectable character, and not be involved with the rest of the game. Though like you said, we have to wait. I am hoping that she is somehow related to the plot. Maybe she oversees, or is friend to the Sprixies? That would give her a better reason to be in the game. Not that i need one mind you, im just speculating on her reasons for being there.

And now for something completely different.
So apparently, Miyamoto has officially stated that 3D World is not the end of the Galaxy series. What are your guys' opinion on that? I for one would like to see a Galaxy 3 that actually innovates. (For those who don't know, apparently the reason why Galaxy 1 and 2 were basically the same game is because SMG2 was originally meant to just be an add-on of some kind for the original)

Honestly, I don't know what Nintendo could do to top flying across the universe in Super Mario Galaxy. The only thing I can think of would be traveling through time and even then, other games have done it (Sonic CD, Crash Bandicoot 3, Ape Escape) but I'm sure Nintendo could make such a thing work.
And yes, I AM aware that there is a game where Mario travels through time but I don't consider that a real Mario game because one, it was a bad educational game, not a platformer and two, it wasn't actually made by Nintendo.
