You should try Mass Attack then, that game provided a good challenge.

Yeah, I have it. It's an interesting take on the series, and I like it.

Anyways, Yarn Yoshi looks cool.

can you read

They gave me a Kirby game that wasn't a Kirby game at all. All of Kirby's key abilities were removed from it in place of ones that make more sense with the art style. The art style is nice, but visual aesthetics don't make a game. It was clearly designed for children (young children) as can be seen with the storytelling, the art style, and of course the difficulty. It is completely impossible to die in the game, the only hint of challenge comes from getting the collectibles. The new mechanics (such as pulling the yarn/moving into the background etc) worked really well with the environment, but it simply wasn't enough to keep me interested through a whole new game.

As its own entity, it's a game for kids that I can ignore. As a Kirby game, it's bad, and frustratingly so since it had been ages since the last Kirby (Which was Squeak Squad I believe). I've forgiven them for it since Return to Dreamland came out and was 110% fantastic, though.

So experimenting the kirby franchise with a new element not found in other games is bad but when it's another usual Kirby game, it's definitely 10/10 material? I don't see the point in the paragraph you wrote other than "It's a kirby game clearly designed for children so it's a bad game" which is definitely not true because Kirby's Epic Yarn is a terrific idea on pen and paper with good execution. The fact that it's worked with the environment really well is what makes Kirby's Epic Yarn that good. That's the whole point: The yarn/art style and how well it works with the environment. I don't think it's a bad game at all because it doesn't stay intact to the kirby series roots. Look at Mass attack and Canvas curse.

I could see this played out with the upcoming Yoshi game as it's own franchise. The Epic Yarn series would appeal most to children (Which again, isn't really a bad thing. It just wouldn't look as appealing in first impressions to hardcore nintendo fans) and would look fun and creative in many ways. Experimenting with new elements or rebooting: I'm one of the many satisfied people with how nintendo worked on the Epic Yarn franchise (especially with this new Yoshi title). I can't wait to see the finished product of this game :D

Calm your tits, I never said experimentation was bad. It keeps the franchise from getting stale. I own Mass Attack, and think it's a really neat game. So is Canvas Curse. So is Air Ride.

However, just because it's an experiment within the franchise does not automatically make it good. DmC: Devil May Cry is something new within that franchise, and it's a pile of garbage.

Epic Yarn could've been good, but I disliked it, and the point of the paragraph was to explain why. I agree that the environments worked well (and the mechanics with it), but something like that simply isn't enough to make me enjoy the length of the game. It lacked a real reason for me to continue playing it for however many hours - there was no challenge, the levels were not very interesting, the story was not compelling, the gameplay itself wasn't anything notable, and the novelty of the aesthetics wore off after an hour or two of playing. The game just didn't give me a reason to care.
