Honestly, they're not never going to remake it. End of story, they'll just use it as their gravy train until people stop buying the exact same thing over and over again.

please don't link to kotaku, it's a disgusting website anyway this wouldn't even need to happen if Sony let you f*** play your PSN PS1 games on the PS4

I'm certain we'll see it. It's too useful for them to never make it I bet you anything if they're ever in danger of going under they'll use FFVII as an attempt to save themselves. Just a hunch but I get the feeling that might be what they're really saving it for Today's episode was a huge dick move though

what would actually be the point of remaking it anyway
other than "oh man there's a new generation of consoles, i want to play the exact same game i've already played except better looking"
nobody will want a remake if it doesn't stay close to the original but if it's exactly the same as the original then what's the point?
FFVII still holds up today. It's still a great game. They're not going to remake it because there's really no point. You want FFVII on PS4? Here's FFVII on PS4, enjoy.
The only real issue with it is the translation in some places and idk if that's been changed in any way for the releases after the PS1 one or not

I don't disagree with you but you know there's a huge audience for it
Although I kind of wonder if that audience is slowly going away with the 90s kids
If they wait too long for it they might miss their opportunity

Sorry kyuubae. I REALLY don't know why everyone hates that site, only been on it twice no joke. Type 0 HD is really not doing it for me. I know its not about the graphics but come on, I played the PSP version 12 times and the graphics looks fantastic (except for the over world sea)

Type-0 HD exists for the West. It was never released there because the PSP was dead when it came out
Reminder that it got announced the exact same day the fan translation patch for Type-0 came out lmfao

I'll just be pissed if they keep it the same as the PC port and it's MIDI music. (I think it was, correct me if I'm wrong). I don't have a lot of hope left in SE so I hope they prove me wrong at some point. But there is some serious money to be made from an actual remake, hell, I'd buy it, and I hate VII. A remake could give them to chance to add some new stuff into it as well, make it worthwhile buying the same game another time.

I just couldn't get my head around the story and the characters, the game itself was fine. But I feel that if they worked on the story (not the events, just how they presented it and more importantly the characters) a little I would enjoy it more. I am aware it sounds very stupid but that's just how I feel about it.

Like I said before, the biggest issue with FF7 is the translation
That's probably why you don't like it and yeah actually I guess a remake would help with that

The translation is not completely awful, but there are spelling errors, grammatical errors, and a few things were mistranslated (correct me on this) to my knowledge. You really can't blame them for the meh translation, because it was the first time they were translating something that large. To put in in prospective, they were used to translating 20-30 hour games on 16-bit cartridges; FF7 was 40-60 hours and spanned 3 CDs. Their PS1 translations (and graphics) after 7 were more polished however, so they learned.

If I recall correctly it was translated by Japanese speakers who knew English and not English speakers who knew Japanese and that goes as well as you'd expect There are a lot of flat-out obvious mistranslations and lines that don't make any sense as well as everything just feeling stiff as all hell Nobody in the FFVII translation has a conversation. They just make statements at each other.

biggest example is Aerith being Aeris, as it was supposed to sound like 'earth' Japanese people would pronounce Aerith as Erisu which they thought would be Aeris
and that's why later usages of her name is Aerith
