There are several reasons why he got elected several times:
1. He is Italy's biggest media tycoon. 2. He has run a few cabinets before and his second was unusually stable for Italian politics. 3. He takes a conservative stance on several medical-ethical issues. 4. He knows how to downplay his faults, plenty of Italians buy it or even like his political incorrectness. I guess you know how the average anti-PC person is. 5. The opposition is often too divided. 6. He is very careful of his appearance (read: incredibly vain), which maintains at least some aspect of his image (and one an awful lot of people care about). 7. There are allegations of connections to the Mafia. 8. ??? 9. Profit! However, note that he hasn't been in power continuously. _________________ |
