the only comparison after that is Black/White 2 not getting a 3DS release despite that being out for a while, but looking at X and Y it's obvious that they were saving a 3DS release until they could make a full 3D game

I personally would prefer both versions being just portable because I'm sure fans would go nutss saying "uhh nintendo wants to milk even more money from us, now we have to buy a Wii U too obtain "example pokemon here"
Don't get me wrong, I definitely would love another console game in the style of Collosseum or XD, but the main titles should stay portable in my opinion.

Main fire emblem games were on console, they changed it for mobile devices
Main monster hunter games went from consoles to mobile and vice versa
Smash was a console game and it made it to 3DS

I don't see who would get pissed about a pokémon game moving to home consoles for a main series title. In fact, a lot of people want that to happen. In MH3U you could transfer your stuff from 3DS to WiiU/WiiU to 3DS so I don't see why it's going to be a problem exclusive Pokémon for both versions, Nintendo could just do that again.

I mean on of the major things for pokemon is you're supposed to get one version, go out and make friends and trading pokes and battling and stuff, hopefully with people with the other version. You kinda miss the point of that when the two versions are "Pokemon: Go out and find people with the other game version" and the other is "Pokemon: Don't leave the house version".

People who play Pokemon dont leave the house anyway.
