I wonder if putting it on sleep would have a similar effect.

That is super lame

Honestly the fact that it doesn't close is its only real problem for me (I don't think it looks comfortable to hold, but if people who have held it say it is I could be wrong)

Not being able to close makes those sections less unique, and it makes the system in general less portable

I mean I won't be buying it anyway, but still

Well the whole point of removing the clamshell functionality is so it's harder for kids to break.

Also: http://www.gamnesia.com/articles/the-2d ... ead-of-two
So that makes the top screen a touch screen too.

Which sucks because they probably won't do anything with that since they would need to make the games work for both 2DS and 3DS systems.

Perhaps the can be a thin case that covers the whole 3DS' front.

This is probably low on the list of complaints about Nintendo 2DS, but wasn't there some ridiculous game with some ridiculous puzzle that involved closing the DS? How would that work on a 2DS?

Ah, Trace Memory. Good times.

To say the least, it looks comfortable as f***. I wouldn't mind using it. I have some goddamn Afro-American hands.

I just hate the fact that they didn't take the opportunity of this flat design to put the bottom-screen more flush to the top-screen, or try to make the screens looks as only one (when they really are one now too).

And they didn't put another thumb-stick on the right-side. Not that you need it for every game, but dang, that should have been common senses by now with making a new 3DS model.

Well its a cheaper model. If they put on the extra thumbstick(and I guess by extension the two extra shoulder buttons) that would make them less money because people would only buy that model.

I think that was probably due to needing to keep the original ratio of the bottom screen for it for all the games anyway, otherwise it'd just need black border around it wouldn't it?

Screens are the same size as the original 3DS screens.

Apparently the L and R triggers are uncomfortable when using the D-Pad but apart from that they're fine.

Currently Playing: with power. Nintendo power.
I wanna tell you the one thing I've always wanted from a 3DS game, and what I'm afraid we'll never get: an honest-to-god 3D platformer.
Not the Super Mario 3D Land style platformer, an old-fashioned open world game like what we used to get on the N64. Ocarina of Time 3D proves that 3D looks good with old games, and Super Mario 64 DS proves that the 3DS obviously has the processing power. Make it happen already.

Unfortunately 3D platformers as a whole are pretty much dead

The only thing I can think of coming out soon is the new Ratchet & Clank
