Glad so many of you could come out last night, I had a good time.

We'll be doing a pre-show for a bit next week, likely with an open floor. Album's gonna start Friday at 8 eastern, doors open 7:30. Come listen with us... to this!

This week's album:
In the Court of the Crimson King

Progressive Rock

In the Court of the Crimson King (subtitled An Observation by King Crimson) is the debut studio
album by the British rock group King Crimson, released on 10 October 1969. The album reached
number five on the British charts, and is certified gold in the United States, where it reached #28
on the Billboard 200.

The album is generally viewed as one of the first works to truly embody the progressive rock genre,
where King Crimson largely departed from the blues influences that rock music had been founded
upon and mixed together jazz and classical symphonic elements. In his 1997 book Rocking the
Classics, critic and musicologist Edward Macan notes that In the Court of the Crimson King "may be
the most influential progressive rock album ever released". The Who's Pete Townshend was quoted
as calling the album "an uncanny masterpiece". The album was named as one of Classic Rock
magazine's "50 Albums That Built Prog Rock".

One of my favorites of all time, looking forward to picking my favorite track again. Last time it was tied between Moonchild and 21st Century Schizoid Man

i'm one of "those guys" who thinks Larks' Tongues In Aspic is KC's best album, but this is a close second
won't be able to make this one but i hope you guys enjoy

Epitaph is the best song on the album

Epitaph is excellent but I think a lot of people don't give Schizoid Man the credit it deserves

Great album mostly though (although I'll be the first to admit Moonchild is pretty dumb tbh)

Thanks for reminding me to make a reminder post

We're gonna try starting 30 minutes early with some pre-show tunes before the album starts this week, so pop in at 7:30 Eastern for that or 8 for King Crimson.

Hope to see you all there. You too Luke, don't miss it wanker

so we discussed something about making lists of albums we think we should do together, here are a few suggestions from moi. these are albums that i think everyone would enjoy to at least some extent, regardless of what music they like

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Can - Future Days
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Tricky - Maxinquaye
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness
J Dilla - Donuts
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
Duster - Stratosphere
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi

and a personal favorite of mine:
The Books - The Lemon of Pink

what about you guys? i think we've generally agreed on mezzanine for next week (cool) but we could kind of get a grasp on what we'll be doing the week after (and later) if we list some albums we're into and think others should hear
