I edited the post, and when I asked how he breathes, I mean wouldn't the oxygen get put in his bloodstream, thereby causing it to turn to crystal, giving him a severe blood clot and killing him?

Although that's not her power, this character reminds me of Emma Frost and her secondary mutant ability to turn her skin into organic diamond-like substances.
Perhaps blood wasn't the best idea and perhaps skin would have been the better option.
