I think you're wrong. There's no such thing as "practicing wrong" by anybody's definition and forgive me but I think you're being a little rude. Yes he is tracing, but he is also shading himself. Tracing isn't a bad thing. It's not good if you intend to call the work yours, and it's bad if you try to publicize it but that's not what he's doing. He's doing these for fun. Tracing gives you a good idea about lineart placement, how to weave pixels to form different lines among other things. Lay off a little bit. You're being very dramatic.

BluePikmin I enjoy seeing your work. After creating these do you think you're getting a feel for the PA style?

I'm enjoying the shading on Klonoa, I got most of Klonoa done. I should expect to finish tomorrow. And Dr. Geno, what is PA style?

I think that he refers to "Pixel Art".

This took a while, a real while, I actually had a Klonoa sprite long time ago at the time I made the Rayman sprite, but it was scrapped to be renewed.

Where particularly, If I made Klonoa's skin brighter, it would look too bright.

Thats not what I meant, I was refering to the shadows direction.

I actually find that the shading is just plain terrible.

Not to be mean or anything, your art is good, but the shading just kills it. I suggest you redo them all, while following a shading tutorial.

Hint : You're doing it pillow-shaded, which is pretty much always bad.

I don't really pillow shade now, I just put shading wherever the angling of the character's parts are.

I must unfortunately say you that it's still looking piloow-shaded.

i suggest you take a second look at everything that's clothing-related on it then, because it's all pillow-shaded
