promising a release date & then saying "jk, gotta do our publicity stunt for us first!!" is a moronic idea and trashy as f*** & if I had any interest in the game at all I would be pirating it after this fiasco

it does have a release date, though the release date is January 25th if twitch doesn't beat the game before that they're just using twitch playing the game as their marketing tool instead of sending codes out to reviewers and random youtubers or whatever. they're not "holding the game ransom" or anything like that any more than other publishers who send out copies of games to people early. if you don't want to participate in the publicity stunt, you don't have to. all you have to do then is either wait for twitch to beat the game or for the 25th if they don't beat it before then the worst part is that i think this whole idea is completely f*** stupid but i still have to defend it because people aren't mad at it for the right reasons but people are seriously going "I ALREADY BOUGHT THE GAME WHY DON'T YOU GIVE ME MY GAME NOW" as if they actually bought it and didn't pre-order it the only reason to be genuinely mad at this is if you pre-ordered it and if you pre-order digital copies of video games you are a f*** idiot anyway edit: apparently they didn't really make that clear at first so i understand why people are mad a little bit more but they clarified and apologised and told people to get refunds if they have an issue i understand the issue a little more now but i still don't get why people are throwing s*** and going "GIVE ME MY f*** GAME NOW" instead of saying "this is dumb, i don't want your game" gamer entitlement

I was under the impression the game was supposed to launch today and this came about as a "surprise! marketing!!" thing
I can't find any source on that though now that I look so I may have been misinformed
If so it's still stupid but at least it's not offensive

I read that too but I read it on an imageboard and found no actual source for it so I didn't pay any attention to it Apparently the game was supposed to be out in Fall last year though lmao

My issue the matter has two points: 1. I, too, was under the impression the game would be released on that day and that they pushed the release date back for a publicity stunt 2. This game has important story elements to it, so a marketing campaign that involves playing through the entire thing, spoiling the big twists for the people interested in buying it, is pretty dumb Oh, and it wasn't until later during the event that they gave a set release date, instead of going "oh we'll just release the game when you guys beat it"

and they apologised for not making that clear from the start and said to get a refund if you have an issue with that Like I said before, I totally agree that this is f*** stupid but don't try to make this into some "they lied to their customers!!" issue

The point about "don't base your marketing stunt around spoiling the ending" still stands, though

http://nichegamer.com/2016/02/nintendo- ... o-program/Here are the deets on what we're getting to replace Club Nintendo. | | | | Miitomo wrote: Nintendo’s first app made exclusively for smart devices, Miitomo, will launch in North America in March for both iOS and Android phones and tablets. Today, Nintendo outlined the steps that fans can take to be among the first to get in on the social fun. Starting Feb. 17, people will be able to pre-register for Miitomo by signing up for the new Nintendo Account service using their existing email, social media accounts or current Nintendo Network IDs. People who pre-register will be among the first to be notified about the availability of Miitomo when it launches in March. Nintendo will offer a special Miitomo bonus to anyone who signs up for a Nintendo Account between Feb. 17 and launch. Miitomo is a social experience that uses Nintendo’s Mii characters, which first debuted on the Wii console, to engage friends in a lighthearted and welcoming environment. Users can spark fun conversations and learn more about each other by answering questions such as “What song has been stuck in your head lately?”, “Do you believe in aliens?”, or even “If you saw a nose hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?” Users can also easily take and share photos featuring their Mii with the Miifoto feature. Nintendo’s new My Nintendo rewards program will launch alongside Miitomo in March, and will be able to connect with the app. “Miitomo is a uniquely entertaining mobile experience that only Nintendo can deliver,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Featuring Mii characters, users will be able to interact with their friends in an entirely new way that transforms communication into a form of play.” Launching alongside Miitomo in March, My Nintendo aims to become much more than a traditional rewards program. It is a more comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways. Miitomo users with a Nintendo Account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience. Including Miitomo, Nintendo plans to release approximately five smart device applications by the end of March 2017. | | | | |
I guess buying physical collectibles is passé now.

It's still pretty damn stupid to make everything digital only, though Get points for buying digital games, use those points to spend less on digital games Like, a good portion of your sales are physical Nintendo, you do know that right

For a company so seemingly intent on moving to digital only, you'd think they would have more than 8GB on their consoles by default
