Discovered some interesting crap with the homing attack last night, because I play with hedgehogs at night apparently. Anyways, the first thing I'm doing in the video is showing how momentum affects it. Doing the homing attack immediately out of a dash makes it hover slightly in the air before you go crashing down. The second thing, and what I feel is the more interesting of the bunch, I'll explain: Let's say that Homing attack works on a lock on type of way. That is, when you're close enough to a person and use homing attack, it automatically locks onto them and hits them. Simple stuff right? Here's the kicker. If the lock on effect happens but you don't happen to hit with the homing attack or get interrupted while performing it, the lock on effect stays. This means that you are able to homing attack to where that person is from practically anywhere, and the effect is canceled only when you die or it finally hits. Granted it's a bug more than likely, but properly exploited and Sonic probably has one of the longest horizontal recoveries in the game. Practically every sonic main knows about this or have seen it in person, but this is how it's properly executed. Thoughts? Opinions?

Wow. Nice find. That's a significant recovery boost. Doesn't seem like it would be particularly hard to setup mid-game, either.

Just wanted to take a minute to say that Afro and SS's discovery of the shorthop spindash (dunno who found it first) is arguably the greatest addition to the Sonic meta

I think SS either mentioned it or mentioned wishing it were a thing. I forget. I'll take credit though cause gloryhog Well I thought "Hey, there's spinshot" so I busted out the good ol' thesaurus and came up with Spinlock. But there's also Spinchain, Spinlink, or Spinbond. Probably Spinlock will catch on though. Thanks for the idea. It isn't. Honestly the only downside is you have to leave yourself wide open or get hit to achieve the lock and it's semi-unpredictable in actual play. Most Sonic players knew it was a thing but this is the first time we're actually finding out the cause and can now exploit the hell out of it. Pls don't patch. Things that end the Spinlock: Opponent dying Opponent getting hit at all (So far, those are the only two things I've found, requires further testing) So that limits its use to recovery primarily. Kinda disappointing. However, with that being said, you can do this: However, opponent position does matter. You have to take into account where they are when you let go of it. Really that's more of a novelty of showing that it can be done.

I don't have a ton of experience edgeguarding Sonic, but is going low to bait low Homing Attack a good idea while edgeguarding? It seems viable for a character like Zelda or ZSS or MK to wait for Sonic to home, run off the stage, force Sonic to go below the stage or far down, and then recover.

I hoped that in Beta dash attack would stop making you fall off an edge after you do it, but I see no change onstream.
