As you may know, Super Smash Flash 2 is a game built not only for community members, but also BY community members. There is a great deal of trust and responsibility and respect we have for our community members, but there is also a level of behavioral expectation that allows us to maintain close contact with you all. Due to the way that our community is set up, there is a great risk for compromises and, for lack of better explanation, leaks, since our Developers have multiple connections and friendships with non-Developers who are excited for the upcoming update. We greatly apologize to any prospective applicants for the SSF2 Development Team, as we have had to place a near 4 month hold on additional entrants in order to deal with a situation we had hoped would never arise.

• One such community member has conspired to have friends apply to be SSF2 Developers, and then encouraged them to privately leak confidential information and tester builds to him. This is an example of something that is absolutely unacceptable.
• Another community member has befriended Developers, and the other community member, who has received confidential information, and has manipulated that community member into giving him pieces of the tester build in order to reverse engineer them and distribute them. This is also absolutely unacceptable.
• Two other community members have given false testimonies in an attempt to frame someone else for the first community member and his Developer pal's doing.
• And finally, two additional community members have continued distribution of files received from the second community member.

McLeodGaming is a team -- no, a family of collegues; some who have known each other for years, some just getting started. We do what we do because we want to make people happy. We do what we do because we want to bring the joy of Smash Bros. to areas where Smash Bros. isn't easily obtained or afforded. We want to inspire those within our community to follow their dreams and become game developers and artists by honing their skills using SSF2 as inspiration. We do not make any money. We pay out of our pockets to attend events, and run this website. There is no reason that anyone should feel enough evil in their hearts to attempt to tear our project(s) apart.

For this reason, I have felt that it is necessary to announce that we will be:

• permanently banning one community member
• removing and permanently banning one SSF2 Developer
• temporarily banning five community members

over these related incidents. The aforementioned Developer also had a legal obligation to keep these files private - but we will not be pursuing charges.

Many other community members have received and played using these modified/leaked files, and for the time being will remain unaffected if they do not continue use of these files. We will also be implementing additional security to all Developer-only tools and files going forward.

I would like to warn all community members as well - if you receive unauthorized DAT.ssf files, or something that claims to be a SSF2 Beta Devmo (Developer Tester Demo) we strongly recommend that you do not open it. Your IP is recorded when these files are used and your IP and all affiliated accounts will be automatically banned across all McLeodGaming services for life once documented.

We apologize for announcing such negative news, but we hope to never have to deal with a situation like this again.

The SSF2 Dev Blogs will continue as normal on 6/3. The remaining SSF2 Developer Applications will be processed in the coming weeks. And please, if you feel that you have skills that may help us finish SSF2 Beta, kindly click here to fill out an application.

I'm happy to know after checking that it wasn't spid3y916; he's really cool and it'd be heart-breaking if he was the dev who got perma'd.

As for who got banned, I'm pretty sure it was that purple tson guy. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
