The range and disjointed hitboxes on their attacks make them safer than other characters who fight hand-to-hand. This is mostly because the slight delay makes the execution a tad stricter, but doesn't have as much of an effect on the sword characters due to how safe they are. And trust me, playing against Link will give you frustration. That boomerang and spin attack...

This is just a PSA for you all. Try and learn the matchups against sword users if you want to have a better shot at beating them.

DK can definitely hold his own online, and I've had a couple of good games as Falcon (although he's one of the worse characters for online imo). Also, a couple of the sword users have large drawbacks, such as Sora having pitiful KO power. Nonetheless, a good Link player will destroy me 9 times out of 10. Link is too good online :'(

In SSF2 online, anyone can become Isai!

Zelda can hold her own against swordsmen with defensive play being very rewarding for Zelda in this demo. Zelda has good range on alot of her attacks Lighting Kicks, UAir, and Side Smash have as much reach as a sword and the transcendant priority on most of her ground attacks helps as well. She also has a reliable high priority projectile in Din's Fire which like most of the swordsmen lack even a reliable projectile. She can also kill most swordsmen at like 60%-70& near the ledge with a Lightning Kick/Down Smash. Since all swordsmen have bad recovery and are easy as s#%& to edgeguard. Nayru's Love and Power Shielding can disrupt Link's projectile game. While down Smash Punishes all approaches, disjointed or not.

DK is very good online. His long range and KO power make him very good, as it only takes a few good hits to take a stock.

Bloody hell, most of the characters I use have swords anyways! They're pretty neat to use!

Eh. I use Marth, and I gotta say...the only characters who are annoying to fight are Naruto, Ichigo, and Link. They are easy to counter if you know their attacks, but holy crap they are annoying.

Just played against a Lloyd earlier today. It was very annoying... The desync made it pretty hard to play at my best, and he was able to constantly throw out f-airs and such with no repercussions easily due to the range and little recovery on his attacks. I'll head over to the Lloyd character section and see if I can learn the matchup better.
