Kid Icarus Uprising's main draw is the sheer variety of different weapons; we could have four different versions of Pit and they could all have different movesets.
Sakurai made both Uprising and Smash Bros, so naturally he'd like to give his own game as much representation as possible.
Ganondorf's been a clone of Captain Falcon for two games straight, possibly going on three, so the "definite clone" argument is moot.
It's a video game, it doesn't matter who's in it.
