One of the things I didn't like about Brawl was the fact we all knew almost all of the newcomers TBH. Few people knew the roster in Melee before it came out, and that made it more entertaining to unlock characters like Roy and G&W because they were unexpected.
Imagine if nobody knew Trainer was in beforehand and suddenly while you're playing 'BAM, YOGA INSTRUCTOR' |

If I didn't go out of my way to look it up, I saw it on Youtube or forums. It would have been exceedingly difficult to avoid spoilers, mainly due to things like the Dojo and online s**** on Youtube, plus the fact that I frequent places like this. |

well actually, Snake and Sonic were unlockable but they were also on the back of the case lmao

Before the game's launch I want them to reveal the starting cast of veterans. Anyone unlockable or newcomer I want to stay secret. So I can be surprised when I first start up the game if there are more newcomers in the starting cast.

I don't think chances are affected by issueing a single statement during an interview, Sakurai always had this mindset when it comes to Smash Bros.
