I doubt they'll replace it with the Beetle to be completely honest, given how different the Bettle is from all incarnations of the boomerang/a boomerang in general.

I think they -might- go with a generic boomerang, but who knows. For all I know they could come up with a completely smash-specific design for Link for the next installement instead.

I would like to say "Given Link's status as one of the 4 core characters of Smash, I doubt that they will make big changes in his movelist" but then again we also got F.L.U.D.D. in Brawl so I guess it's wise to never say never, haha.


I agree. I honestly think they would go with the design of Link from the upcoming Wii U Legend of Zelda game, instead of his Skyward Sword design, but that's just me.

Okay here's another speculated replacement:

Kirby's Final Smash changed to the Ultra Sword from Return to Dreamland. Sword is one of the most iconic copy abilities, even moreso than Cook, so i would love to see this.

I dunno, though, the boomerang is a bigger part of Link as opposed to Mario's down-B.

Well Smash Bros has been in development for at least a year now, they should have some beta footage by now.

I am super glad it's BEFORE E3. I leave for Bonnaroo the day after. Considering this is the E3 I've been waiting for since Brawl, it'd be a shame to miss it.

It's a shame for the other companies, though. If Nintendo was going on the morning of the 11th like usual it would be like building up to a grand finale - as it is now, I'm expecting it to be more like everyone scrambling together and pretending they can compete with a Smash Bros reveal

Yeah, I know I sound like one of THOSE guys. But this is a Smash Bros fan forum, for f*** sake. I like that game

I mean I know Nintendo do some retarded things sometimes but I don't think "let's not show any new characters off when we're showing a new game" is one of them

They showed ZSS, Pit, Meta Knight, Wario, and Snake in the trailer for Brawl. All newcomers.
I'm sure if there's a trailer, they'll show a few characters off.
