So, apparently Shovel Knight is getting retail copies in October.
But that's not as interesting as the confirmation of the upcoming free dlc; the battle mode and body swap mode promised in the Kickstarter, and new campaigns not just for Plague Knight, but also for King Knight (you're welcome, Steven) and Specter Knight.

 Shovel Knight amiibo confirmed. Probably means support for the Wii U/3DS versions, but could it also mean something else?

Remember that a while they announced a 'megaton addition' or something like that with nintendo exclusive content? The Amiibo probably unlocks that or plays a role in it. The way the Amiibo box is set up doesn''t resemble the Smash Bros. line of Amiibos so I would hold off on saying that this definetly hints at Smash supports (given that atm no other Amiibos outside of the smash line can be used in Smash Bros., but hey who knows).

Wait, really? Can you use the Super Mario Bros. Amiibos for the corresponding Smash characters in Smash Bros.? Oh woops my bad I didn't know that, I guess I should've researched better. EDIT: The Shovel Knighht amiibo trailer features Game Grumps apparently. What a damn shame.

Yacht Club released a statement yesterday, explaining their plans for the future of Shovel Knight. To wit:
- Shovel Knight is being released on the Nintendo Switch.
- At the same time, the game is being rebranded as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.
- Each game mode (Shovel Knight, Plague of Shadows, and the upcoming Specter of Torment) will be made available for standalone purchase on all consoles.
- The original game mode is also getting the subtitle Shovel of Hope, but that's inconsequential.
- Specter of Torment will be released soon, and the promised gender swap mode will be released at the same time.
- Local co-op mode is coming to all consoles, without the need of Amiibo. (Except for handhelds.)
- Later on this year, the King Knight campaign and the Battle Mode will be released as well, both standalone and in the Treasure Trove collection.
- Everyone who currently owns Shovel Knight will be upgraded to the Treasure Trove edition.
- Finally, Treasure Trove's price will be increased in the spring.
In summary: get the game before the price goes up, and you'll get all the expansions for free, or you can purchase the expansions separately as standalone games.

In case anyone missed it, here's the trailer for Specter of Torment: I'm just glad that the levels appear to be alot more than just a slightly tweaked Shovel Knight campaign.
