I enjoyed the parts in the second book with Eragon's bro just leading his fellow villagers on his way to save his girl, smacking peeps with his hammer and all that.

Meanwhile I just skimmed Eragon's path to be like those superior elf atheist hippies or whatever.

I cannot stand Lord of The Ring-esque type description of things. Give me the setting, but I don't need to know about that one random crack in that weather-worn rock bathed in the glistening golden sunlight under the ancient great oak tree whose gnarled and barren branches seem to reach for the sapphire-blue sky reminding me of the blue eyes of my beloved who waits for me longingly while I'm away at the war.

Imagery is good, but if you get lost in your own imagery, your story suffers and the reader decides to just skim.

I was embarrassed that I sat through it...even though I was at home.
