Yeah, I'm gonna need an explanation of why those characters have such an overwhelming chance of overshadowing Asbel that even the consideration of putting Tales' most recent protagonist on a new Nintendo console nets the all-powerful "so yeah no."

Cless is the series staple in every anniversary title he shows up for "Tales of xx anniversary" along with that he started the series on SNES and his game later showed up on GBA. His game span a bunch of spin offs like Summoners Lineage,and the Narkari dungeon series.

Shing has about the same chances as Asbel along with Ruca.

Lloyd has twice the chances of Asbel as his game was big of the Gamecube and even got a sequel on Wii.

So again what makes you think that he has anything on any of these characters? Asbel isn't even popular anymore Yuri and Ludger took his place and Lion still tops him.

Asbel is recent, which makes him familiar with Nintendo buyers. Promotability has been a huge factor in games in the past. Characters like Ike and Roy owe their appearances to the recency of their game dates-- hell, Roy was so hyped he was featured in Melee before his own game.

But hell, you even said it yourself that Shing and... uh... Ruca... (not even featured in Act Cadenze Strife, I had no idea who that was) had "equal" chances. Disagreed, but only because of what I said above. Asbel has the advantage of recency. I know Cless is the first main protagonist and all, and Lloyd is Nintendo familiar, but I feel just that Asbel's appearance contests those both.

As for Yuri with his popularity... hmm. I'd love to see him too and he IS indeed popular, but I still predict Asbel as most likely.

Bah. Who's to say Namco even uses Tales as a representative series (if they get one) anyway? That prediction/leaker dude guess Pac-Man anyway. HIS appearance would be my real problem. >:{

Namco is most likely not getting a rep for this game. Though an Assist would be nice.

Asbel may have been recent but to what? His game is recently promoted on PS3 with Tales of Graces F leaving him in the same boat as the DS characters and with Tempest R being hinted (Not the April Fools joke) Cauis is in the same boat. And Yuri he's the most popular Tales of character alongside Lion Magnus. Though honestly I don't believe Namco should have any reps and if they do god forbid let it not be Heihachi or Pac Bozo.

uh... in general I think the gaming community is looking too much into which characters should/could to be included. I mean, If a game is Iconic and was featured on a nintendo console as well as is best known for its installment on a nintendo console a character from the title could/should be included. regardless if it's first party, third party, birthday party or slumber party... I believe Smash is a lil more than a Billboard to plug in games or media for better sales numbers also, so the damn "well, 'insertcharacterhere' has a game coming out this summer so these guys might get in" comments don't really hold merit IMO.

when it comes to tales reps asbel has a higher chance than ruca and shing due to not only being localized but for being on a home console
that's not to say he has a good chance but it's better than ruca's and shing's (despite me really rather having either of them over asbel)
