In particular, people seem to be extremely worried about video game run-through videos, or “Let’s Play” videos, especially since they often consist of nothing more than someone playing the game — it’s not necessarily easy to pull that type of video under the umbrella of fair use, since they lack any additional comment or criticism. Needless to say, people are freaking out.

Has this been officially passed already? This would totally wreck video game streaming as well, which is a large source of income for major corporations like MLG and many smaller streamers especially for those in the Esports community (I'm thinking Starcraft 2 x_x)

if this gets passed it would have a drastic effect on SSF2, right?

... I'm assuming you haven't read the article, or the law proposition.

Long story short, this doesn't change jack s*** but perhaps make it a bit faster for the offender to get their punishment should the game company take them to court. Lets plays and walkthroughs have ALWAYS been against copyright, for the same reason why putting a movie(or bits of it) on youtube is illegal.

Companies don't do anything about it because it's essentially free s****, especially with very popular dudes like SeaNanners who appeal to a wide audience.

And by the wayyyy, this particular excerpt is from a super early draft of the bill- the intent was never to shut down Let's Plays or anything like that, just to prevent people streaming movies-on websites like livestream-- to other people. If this hasn't already been amended, it will be soon.

Woop, writin' articles about things you know nothing about! The majority that are crying out over this thing are-I assume!-- people who watch very popular people, and these people got very popular for a reason- they offer something more than just the game itself, be it witty commentary or something else!

I'm there were many bills like this that didn't pass. So I'm sure this won't pass.

I know. Why is everyone so worried that this will pass when there's like a 90% chance that it won't.
