If you use Meta Knight's Dair just above the ground, you can do a slide of sorts, allowing for ground movement before the move ends to escape or follow up for an unexpected combo, combine this with edge canceling,this opens up lot's of mind game possibilities.

Dashing and shielding immediately after gives you a sliding shield. idk what you can use it for but there's that

For best results hold the dash button, tap a direction and THEN hold shield.

Also crouch cancel dashing as the darkest Meta Knight alt. looks intimidating
