in 2011 they met up with the members of sonic community and helped fix a majority of the games problems

Ken told me that they are using new story and level ideas this time around.

Sonic 4 is supposed to start some time after the story of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it is very much a sequel. Otherwise, it wouldnt be called Sonic 4 now would it?

S&K was the game when I was younger.

Why would you want that? If I wanted the game to take place in Sonic 3's setting, I would play Sonic 3. My god, do you want this to be a sequel or a remake? People like you are why we got reused bosses and levels in Sonic 4. Sorry if I'm sounding harsh, but I want a sequel to have something new.

And Episode 1 failed to do that. I'm still waiting for Amy and Knuckles! Hopefully Ken will listen to all of the people who keep asking for Amy, Knuckles, and Fang to appear
